Participation Conditions and Rules

1. General Information

Salomon Çeşme Half Marathon is a road running race that will take place in Çeşme at a distance of 21,0975 km and 10 km.

The Half Marathon Distance Run starts from Çeşme city centre at 08:00 on 3 June 2023. 10K Distance starts from Alaçatı city centre at 09:00.

Participants are required to complete the Half Marathon distance in 3 hours 30 minutes and the 10K distance in 1 hour 30 minutes on a partial qualification basis. Partial qualification means that the participants must carry the equipment that will allow them to continue their run safely in the natural conditions they may encounter.

2. Conditions of Participation

The race is open to everyone over the age of 18. The 16-18 age group can only participate in the 10K race with parental permission. Participants must have a medical certificate valid on 3 June 2023 and dated within one year prior to the date of the competition stating that they are not prevented from running, or an athlete's licence approved by the Athletics, Triathlon, Mountaineering, Orienteering or Cycling Federations. Relevant documents will be submitted to the organisation before the race. Runners should have athletic preparation and wear clothes suitable for different weather and nature conditions.

3. Registration

a) Form of registration

Only registered runners can participate in the run. Registrations will be made through the cesmeyarimaratonu.com website. The deadline for registration is 1 June 2023 at 17:00.

The deadline for track changes is 1 June 2023 at 17:00. No change can be made to the track where the participant limit has been reached.

The maximum number of participants is limited to 1000 people. Registrations will be closed when this limit is reached without waiting for the registration deadline.

Each registration is personalised. It will not be allowed to transfer the registration or allow someone else to run instead of a participant.

b) Registration fee

Registration fees; 

21K Salomon Cesme Half Marathon

There are 3 different registration periods for the Salomon Cesme Half Marathon.
For those who will register between 30th November 2023 - 30th January 2024, the registration fee is 410 TL.
For those who will register between 1st February 2024 - 31st March 2024, the registration fee is 450 TL.
For those who will register between 1st April 2024 - 1st May 2024, the registration fee is 510 TL.

10K Salomon Cesme Road Run

There are 3 different registration periods for the Salomon Çeşme 10K Road Run.
For those who will register between 30th November 2023 - 30th January 2024, the registration fee is 310 TL.
For those who will register between 1st February 2024 - 31st March 2024, the registration fee is 350 TL.
For those who will register between 1st April 2024 - 1st May 2024, the registration fee is 410 TL.

The deadline for requesting a refund for registration fees is 15 April 2024. No refunds will be made after this date.

In order to participate in the race, the registration fee must be paid by Visa or MasterCard credit card or bank transfer at the time of registration. Participants who have paid the registration fee will be taken into consideration in the final registration list. The organisation has the right to discount the registration fee under certain conditions.

The registration fee covers the items listed below:

- Bib number
- Time measurement
- Running T-shirt
- Food/drink support and First Aid at waypoints along the track
- Finisher's medal for participants who successfully completed the run
c) Registration cancellation and refund

The deadline for cancallation and refunds is 15th April 2024.  For cancellations after this date, the registration fee will not be refunded.

Registration cancellation requests must be notified in writing to [email protected].

The payment made by the participant will be refunded to the participant in the same way. If the payment was made by bank transfer by the participant, the refund will be made to the same bank account of the participant or if the payment was made by credit card by the participant, the refund will be made to the same credit card of the participant.

If the run is stopped or cancelled due to bad weather conditions, force majeure or similar reasons beyond the control of the organisation, the registration fee will not be refunded.

4. Delivery of the Run Package

Participants are required to pick up their running packs including chest number and other materials from the "Race Office" located in Çeşme city centre on the dates and times specified below. 

Running Kits are only delivered to those who have registered for the race. The race kits of the runners who have completed their registration but will not be able to participate in the race will be delivered to the persons to be notified to [email protected] by e-mail, without chest number and without chip.

2 June 2023, Friday : 12:00 - 22:00.
3 June 2023, Saturday : 06:00 - 07:30.

4.1 Running Package Delivery Appointment System

There is an appointment system for Kit Delivery in order to minimise your waiting time when receiving your Running Packages. You can choose the most convenient time for you from the Appointment System on your personal pages and make your appointment. For participants who come without an appointment, we have a limited number of service counters.

Participants who cannot reach the delivery of the running kit at the appointment time can receive their kits with the participants who come without an appointment.

5. Running Start

Participants must be at the starting area in Çeşme city centre on 3 June 2023 at 07:30 at the latest (30 minutes before the start of the run). The run starts at 08:00.

At the start area, there will be places where participants can change their clothes and a bag drop-off area. Participants can take their bags back at the end of the run provided that they show their chest numbers.

The organisation is not responsible for items left anywhere other than the bag drop zone.

6. Running Route

Salomon Cesme Half Marathon follows the following route with a total length of 210975 metres and 188+ m of climbing:

Çeşme, Ilıca Beach, Alaçatı, Çamlık Road, Çeşme

The running route will be marked with bright bands and other methods. Going out of the marked route and taking shortcuts are grounds for disqualification.

7. Waypoints and Time Limits

On the route of the Salomon Cesme Half Marathon and Salomon 10K Road Run, there are feeding stations every 5 km and water and sponge stations every 2 km. 

Rubbish should be thrown into the rubbish bins located here.

Participants can receive support from 3rd parties at the areas designated by the organisation at the intermediate points. The supporters can accompany the participant by running with him/her from 200 m. before to 200 m. after the waypoints. It is forbidden to receive support outside the waypoints. Supporters who do not have supporter accreditation at the race centre will not be admitted to the stations.

Participants who voluntarily withdraw from the race at the waypoints, who are stuck in the time limit or who cannot continue due to injury will be transported to the finish area by shuttles. Participants who withdraw from the run between two waypoints should notify the organisation as soon as possible on the emergency phone number +90 535 545 18 78 and return to the nearest waypoint or finish area.

8. Environmental Sensitivity

Participants are required to be respectful to the environment, not to throw their rubbish outside except for the rubbish bins at the waypoints and not to destroy the natural environment. Participants who do not pay attention to these issues will be disqualified. 

9. Safety and Health

In case of bad weather conditions (e.g. heavy fog, storms), the organisation has the right to make changes, which may include stopping, shortening or cancelling the run in order not to endanger the participants and to allow them to run in healthy conditions. In case of such changes, the participants will be notified before or during the run at intermediate points. Participants are obliged to comply with the decisions made.

Provided that their locations are announced before the run, medical teams and/or ambulances will be present at important intermediate points throughout the run and where the organisation deems necessary. If deemed necessary, the medical teams may check the participants and may prevent the relevant participants from continuing the run if they believe that there is an obstacle to running or a health risk. Participants are obliged to comply with the decisions made.

10. Mandatory Materials

It is compulsory for the participants to have the materials listed below with them during the run:

- Bib number and additional timing chip (to be provided by the organisation).

12. Disqualification and Time Penalties

The behaviours listed below are direct grounds for disqualification:

- Failure to pass through any waypoint.
- Taking shortcuts or taking shortcuts.
- Receiving support except at waypoints.
- Leaving a participant who needs help alone and not helping them.
- Destroying the natural environment or littering.
- Refusing to be checked by medical staff.
- Failure to comply with decisions made by medical personnel or the organisation (e.g. not to continue the race).
- Engaging in unsporting behaviour.
Disqualified runners are not allowed to continue the race. 

13. Results

Partial results during the run and final results afterwards will be published on cesmeyarimaratonu.com website. The results will be evaluated in the following categories.

  • Male/Female General Classification
  • Male/Female 16-18 (10K only)
  • Male/Female 35-
  • Male/Female 35 - 39
  • Male/Female 40 - 44
  • Male/Female 45 - 49
  • Male/Female 50 - 54
  • Male/Female 55 - 59
  • Male/Female 60 - 64
  • Male/Female 65 - 69
  • Male/Female 70 - 74
  • Male/Female 75+

The objection period for age groups is 5 working days from the race date. Appeal requests received within this period will be evaluated. Appeal requests received after this date will not be taken into consideration.

14. Awards

Salomon Cesme Half Marathon does not give any financial reward. Every participant who finishes the race within the time limit and within the rules will receive a finisher's medal.

The award ceremony will be held on Saturday, 3 June 2023 at 12:00 in Çeşme city centre.

15. Use of Visual Materials

Registered participants are deemed to have given permission for their photos and videos taken during the event to be used by the organisation and sponsors for promotional purposes in all visual, written and business media.

16. Disclaimer

Participants who have voluntarily registered for the Salomon Cesme Half Marathon are deemed to have accepted the running rules and any changes that may be made to these rules. The organisation cannot be held responsible for any material and moral damages and accidents caused by the participants or incurred by the participants and which may arise against third parties.
